Cardiff University at an Osaka Study Fair — A Route to the Cyber Security MSc

この記事を日本語で読む

Cardiff University, which is listed among the Cyber Wales Supporting Institutions, attended the BEO Osaka Fair at TKP Garden City Osaka Umeda on 24 October 2026. The event has finished, but it provides a concrete example of a Welsh university meeting prospective students in Japan.

A completed event in Osaka

According to the University’s official page, the BEO Osaka Fair ran from 12:00 to 16:00 Japan time on 24 October and was open to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students. A Cardiff representative was available to discuss courses, entry requirements, scholarships and student life. No future Japanese date is currently confirmed, so this should be described as a completed event rather than a recurring opportunity.

What the Cyber Security MSc covers

The Cyber Security MSc is a one-year, full-time degree studied in Cardiff, with the 2027 intake due to begin on 27 September. Modules cover risk management, penetration testing and malware analysis, computer and network forensics, cybersecurity operations, cyber resilience and responsible AI, and applied cryptography. Students also complete a 60-credit dissertation and have access to a dedicated Cyber Security and Forensics Laboratory.

What applicants from Japan should check

  • Academic background: a UK 2:2 equivalent in a relevant subject. A good four-year bachelor’s degree from a recognised Japanese university may be considered, subject to individual assessment.
  • English: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each component, or an accepted equivalent.
  • Cost: the overseas tuition fee for 2027 entry is £33,950, with a £3,000 deposit. Living costs, travel, visa costs and a laptop should be budgeted separately.
  • Deadline: applications normally close at the end of August but can close earlier when places are filled. Confirm timing with the University.

The £3,000 Master’s Scholarship shown on the course page is explicitly for UK students. Applicants from Japan should ask the International Office or a listed adviser about awards for which they may actually be eligible.

A practical next step

An on-campus postgraduate Open Day is scheduled in Cardiff from 12:00 to 16:00 GMT on 18 November, which is 21:00 on 18 November to 01:00 on 19 November in Japan. Students who cannot travel can use the official International Office, online event listings and virtual tour. For prospective undergraduates, an Ask Cardiff webinar is scheduled for 17:00–18:00 GMT on 25 November, or 02:00–03:00 JST on 26 November.
