Bringing Global Cybersecurity Knowledge to Learners in Japan
The Cyber Security Body of Knowledge (CyBOK) is an international body of knowledge that organizes the knowledge required for cybersecurity across 21 Knowledge Areas.
Cyber Hiroshima uses CyBOK as a foundation for helping learners in Japan understand the broader cybersecurity landscape and identify what to study next. We organise and present Japanese-language summaries, key concepts, specialist terminology, and related fields to make this body of knowledge easier to navigate.
PRACTICE
Knowledge Alone Is Not Enough
In cybersecurity, there is a significant gap between understanding concepts and being able to apply them in practice.
Cyber Hiroshima uses SudoRange, a cloud-based cyber range provided by UK-based SudoCyber, to offer opportunities for hands-on cybersecurity training in a safe environment.
Learners can gain practical experience across a broad range of areas, including networking, security, ethical hacking, digital forensics and open-source intelligence (OSINT).
AI-ASSISTED LEARNING
Don’t Leave Questions Unanswered
Cybersecurity is a broad field, and even deciding what to learn first can be difficult.
Cyber Hiroshima is developing an AI-assisted learning environment designed to help answer questions such as “What is this technology?” “Where should I look in CyBOK?” “What should I study next?” and “Which hands-on exercise should I try?”
Rather than waiting for a dedicated LLM to be completed, we are taking an incremental approach by combining existing AI tools with a knowledge base curated by Cyber Hiroshima and expanding its capabilities step by step.

Cyber Hiroshima was established through its collaboration with Cyber Wales, the cybersecurity ecosystem in Wales, UK.
Through our connections with Cyber Wales and SudoCyber, we bring together knowledge, people, education, and technology from Japan and the UK, creating more opportunities for continuous exchange and learning in cybersecurity.
Our goal is not only to bring outstanding knowledge and learning opportunities from overseas to Japan, but also to connect expertise and people emerging from Japan with international networks — building a two-way relationship between Japan and the wider world.
CYBER CHALLENGE / CTF
Put What You Have Learned into Practice
Cybersecurity requires more than simply acquiring knowledge.
By tackling real-world challenges, thinking independently, experimenting, and finding solutions, learners can turn what they have learned into practical skills.
Through CTFs (Capture the Flag) and Cyber Challenges, Cyber Hiroshima aims to provide opportunities for learners to test their knowledge and skills against practical challenges.
In 2024, Cyber Hiroshima and SudoCyber collaborated on a CTF for Japanese high school students at the British Embassy in Tokyo as part of a CyberFirst-related event associated with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Cyber Hiroshima organised the event in Japan, while SudoCyber provided a hands-on training environment from Wales through its cloud-based cyber range, SudoRange, with exercises available in both English and Japanese.

From Challenge to New Questions—and Back to Learning
Cyber Hiroshima aims to develop CTFs and Cyber Challenges not as the end of the learning journey, but as opportunities to put skills into practice, discover new questions, and continue learning.
